Crook County Fire & Rescue responded to a small townhouse building fire at 12:30 this morning when neighbors reported the siding was on fire. The Prineville Police Dept. had cleared families from the units prior to CCF&R’s arrival. Fire crews arrived to find a person using a garden hose to extinguish a cart and section of siding on the front side of the townhomes. Fire Crews finished extinguishing the fire and made access into the walls and soffit areas to check for extension.
The Multi-family unit in the NW 10th Street area incurred damages estimated at $5,000.00. The town house was ventilated and the Central Oregon Red Cross was not needed at the scene.
The cause was determined to be from a discarded cigarette.
