Crook County Fire & Rescue responded to a residential structure fire last night at approximately 11:10 pm. Crews arrived soon after to find a fire burning in the structure’s attached garage and smoke alarms sounding in the house. CCF&R crews gained access through the garage door and quickly extinguished the fire before it could extend into the dwelling area of the home.
The house was empty when the fire occurred, it was called in by a neighbor who reported hearing an aerosol can explode when they went outside. The cause was determined to be spontaneous from deck stain spilled onto a rug and other materials earlier that day. Damages are estimated at $30,000 which includes their personal items, sheetrock and electrical wiring damage in the garage. No one was displaced due to the fire.
