At approximately 3:09 pm, Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a reported brush fire in the area of NE Peters Road. CCFR responded with three engines and one tender, with a total of eight firefighters. A small brush fire of approximately a quarter acre was quickly brought under control by the crews. Damage was limited to several fences and two outbuildings. After an investigation, it was determined that the fire was unintentional and caused by equipment working in the area.
Crook County Fire and Rescue would like to remind the community, that although we are experiencing cooler temperatures, there is still significant risk of fire due to low humidity and low fuel moistures. CCFR would like to thank the City of Prineville Police Department and the Oregon State Police for their assistance during this event.
