Crook County Fire & Rescue responded to a residential fire on SW Bent Loop at approximately 11:00 pm on 1/2/16. The Crook County Sherriff’s Department and Redmond fire & Rescue also responded to the two story residence. Upon arrival, crews noted fire venting from the attic, the home occupants had exited the structure.
The crews worked to extinguish the fire which was fully involved throughout the attic. The fire area included a chimney chase that extended up the side of the structure. Reports from the family of four living there explained that they smelled smoke before any smoke alarms sounded. They woke up their two children and exited the structure and called 911.
Extensive damage was incurred throughout the attic. It is undetermined if the house is a complete loss, a value is not available at this time. The family denied any assistance from the Red Cross, they are currently staying with relatives in the area. The cause is under investigation.
