On January 7, 2019 at approximately 6:40 am, Crook County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a working structure fire on SE Melrose Drive, in Prineville, Oregon. Arriving crews found a working structure fire in an out building, spreading to several exposures in close proximity. In all, two homes and two outbuildings were destroyed. Four fire engines, two water tenders and two ambulances responded to the scene with a total 17 firefighters. Crews were on scene for several hours working to extinguish the fire.
One dog and three cats were rescued from one of the homes, no occupants suffered any injuries. Red Cross was called in to assist the occupants.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. Crews were assisted on scene by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Prineville Police Department, Prineville City of Public Works, and ODOT.
